Hi Guys,
We are heading into our last week. Thanks for a great season of activity! I've never seen as many trades during the season in a league like this. I hope you enjoyed it. We will soon be heading into another fun period filled with trades and free agency. Technically we will be frozen for business from the last day of the season until the end of the World Series. No trades, etc. in that period. Use this time to evaluate your rosters. Make a list of players that will be free agents, who you want to cut, prospects to add, etc. Come up with your plan of attack. Don't post any of this on the site until you get a green light from me. Keep it on paper or in a file on your computer in the meantime. Part of the off-season business will be coming up with a new owner. We have found one, but we are still in need of one more. I will place feelers on a few web boards and see where that gets us.
Dates: Rosters Freeze The last day of the regular season Open for Activity Again The day after the World Series, so long as we have 10 owners by then Players Cut from Rosters TBA Free Agency List Available TBA
Thanks everyone!
Brian

A little more details... No Activity On This Site Until the Day After the World Series!
1st Day after the World SeriesYou can start talking and posting trades and post trade blocks. You should remove all players who are free agents from your roster (ex: Yu Darvish). Update your prospects list by adding new players and deleting others. Please be careful here to check the 2017 master prospect list and know if the player might be owned by someone else. If disputes pop up, let me know. I want to use the month of November to construct rosters, so we will be a little more lax with the rules. If you are over by a player or two or exceed the cap we are fine for now. There are to be NO ADDITIONS to your roster from the players available at ESPN. Use this time to start evaluating players you want to drop. It is your option if you want to list the players right away or if you want to attempt to trade them first. Please DO NOT list players that are free agents on your drop list. EX: Yu Darvish should not be on this list since he is no longer yours to drop. However, if you want to drop a big salary, like Jacoby Ellsbury, this would be the place to do that. Use the following to check players who are eligible for FA. Be careful to check what the decision is on some of those options. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/2017-18-mlb-free-agent-list.html I want you to use this month to update salaries. Remember, we are using 2017 salaries for the 2018 season. Delete any info about 2016 salaries. For those that are new, we use the previous year salary so we don’t have to worry about arbitration numbers that aren’t determined until much later in the off season. If salaries are known for other years, please post that information, too. It will be helpful to all owners when considering trades to know contract details. Please use the following directions to update your salaries. • Use the following link: www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/• Once you are there, click on a team along the left hand side. • Once you are there, click on the green link next to 2017. • You should see the salary info for all players who were on that team’s opening day roster for 2017. For a player traded during the season of 2017, you may need to look around. For example, Justin Verlander’s salary information would be found on the Detroit page, not Houston. • If a player is new to MLB and you can’t find a salary anywhere, please use $.5 for their salary. • Check your salary total to see how you are in relation to the salary cap December 1You MUST have a finalized roster posted that consists of NO MORE than 40 players on your MLB roster. You can have less, but not more. You must also be in compliance of the $240 million salary cap. Your drop list must be finalized by December 1. Another point is that you CANNOT have any players on your MiLB roster that have reached the rookie limits of 130 AB or 50 IP. January 1Tentative date that will be used for posting free agency list, with bidding to start sometime in the month of January. MarchPossibility of adding players from ESPN.

Happy New Year!
I have posted the free agents into the position(s) they fall in. Again, ESPN determines position eligibility, so don't take these as absolute. We will begin bidding somewhere in the middle of the month. Start scouting who you want and read up on the rules. LMK if you have questions. Thanks!

Awesome. Now it would be nice if some of these guys actually sign somewhere. This must be the slowest free agent signing period ever.

Would love to start ASAP, but on the other hand it would be nice to know who they are playing for before bidding for these guys.

I'm fine either way but I can totally understand an owner wanting to wait.
I glanced at a list of top free agents and only 22 of the top 50 have signed.
We can start next Saturday as planned or if owners want to wait a week or two Im okay with that.

I'm fine either way also. Maybe push it back to the 20th, and if nobody really signs by the 13th then maybe plan on the 27th. I wouldn't wait much past Feb 1st though. If a bunch of guys sign by the 13th then keep it for the 20th

I'm good with whenever. I'm not gonna be too active in free agency so whenever you's are good is good with me.

Brian, I'd just stay flexible on it. Nothing wrong with pushing it back further if stuff doesn't happen by middle of next week. I'm shocked at how slow this period of free agency has been.
