With the official list coming out Wednesday, there are 5 players currently above the 75% after some ballots have been made public. With Chipper, Vlad, and Thome sitting above 90%, they should be locks. But with Edgar at 80 and Hoffman at 77, what is the likelihood they get enough of remaining votes to get in? Do you think DH for Edgar and San Diego for Hoffman are hurting their chances? Just curious on thoughts.

My guess is all five of the names you mentioned get into hall of fame. IMO all deserved. Hoffman ended up with 74% last year. I think he gets in this year.
On a side note I like that Jack Morris finally got into the hall of fame. Nobody won more games in the 1980's then Jack Morris.

I met Jack Morris in a bar in Toronto and pleaded his HOF case to him. He laughed. No-hitter, most wins in 80s (rampant steroid era), was the ace for Tigers, Twins, and Blue Jays WS winning staffs. Pitched the best game other than Don Larsen in WS history (10 inning shutout in 91). His era was higher but it was because he went DEEP into games and faced lineups 4-5 times. I don't think Edgar belongs but it looks like that may not matter. The other 4 are highly likely, I think. Big class with Trammell joining this year as well. Can't wait to be in Cooperstown for induction weekend. Vladdy was one of my faves.

I went to high school in Atlanta and got to watch Chipper play for the 4 years I lived there, along with the big 3, Glavine, Maddux, and Smoltz. I never got to see Vladdy play live though. Hoffman was pretty intense on the mound too.

I used to to Montreal 6-8 times a year in Montreal. If you didn't see him play in that era, you missed a gem. Howitzer for an arm, full effort on everything, could hit anything you threw!
