Congrats to Neil! To be the man, you have to beat the man! I have to get to work immediately to see if I can figure out a way to get the W in the finals against him. You should all be doing the same. It looks like we need to replace Scott who has been MIA and Don who has left. We will get going on that and keep you updated.
In the time between now and the end of the World Series, official league business of adding players is frozen. This means no trading or adding players or even posting trading block posts. There will be plenty of time for that later. If you want to promote someone from your own MiLB to your MLB roster, that is fine. There shall be no other adds besides that. (For example, I own Francisco Alvarez in my MiLB. I can add him to my MLB here and ESPN since he has been playing in the majors.) I will give the greenlight when league activity can resume, and that won't be until all 10 of us complete the activity below. Don't be the guy that holds us up. Start your work now.
Please get working on the following:
1) Remove all players who are MLB free agents from your roster both here and ESPN. DO NOT PLACE THEM ON YOUR DROP LIST! For example, I have to remove Trea Turner SS Dodgers . To find out more information about who is due to be a free agent, the following link may be helpful: www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/08/2022-23-mlb-free-agents.html
2) You can drop any player you want this off-season. Any player who is not a pending free agent should be listed in your DROPPED PLAYER THREAD in the following manner: First Name Last Name Position. This makes it much easier for me to copy and paste them into our free agent bidding list.
3) Evaluate your MiLB lists. Anyone who has reached 50 IP or 130 AB in a season must be removed from your MiLB and either added to your MLB or dropped. Failure to do so will result in a penalty. Update your prospects list. You can add or drop from here as you see fit. Make sure you update your cap. The most important thing is to do your homework to make sure they are not owned by someone else. This is especially for new owners. Check their transaction history both on here and with MLB. Check our 2022 prospects list as well. If anyone has a dispute about ownership of a player, let me know asap.
4) Delete all info relating to 2021 salaries from your MLB roster. We will be using 2022 salaries for 2023. Please use the following website to check all players’ salary information: www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/ New deals are signed all the time, so check everyone. To check on a player salary, find out what team they belonged to at the beginning of the 2022 season, click on the team name along the left of the page. Click on the green number next to 2022 to open the payroll spreadsheet for the team. Keep in mind that you must maintain a total cap of MLB and MiLB salaries that does not exceed $240 million.
5) You can keep players who have long-term injuries like a broken leg or Tommy John surgery recovery on your DL throughout the off-season. These players do not count against your 40 man, but their salaries do. No one who is on the DL for a pulled hamstring or something short-term should be left there, though.
6) You can trade players on your drop list and even be over your cap until 12/1. By then, you must have only 40 players and be under the cap.
7) If you have questions, please reach out to me. I am more than happy to help.
Check back frequently as I have some proposals to discuss.
Please take care of these details by the World Series conclusion so we can dive into activity. Thanks for a great season! I hope we have an active hot stove league. This helps fill the off-season, and good luck!
