Hi Guys,
I am sure we are all excited to get started, and the season could end today if the Sox win. Some things to keep in mind/plans:
1) Rosters froze on the last day of the regular season.
2) We all need to start updating our teams. That means
a) You can add/delete prospects from your MiLB list. Please check to make sure they are not owned by others. Using the 2018 Master Prospects List would be the best way to check.
b) Update your roster. That includes making sure salaries are correct. Please use the site www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/ to search salary info. Even if you have it posted for 2018 and beyond, things change. Check ALL players using this site and this site only. Click on the appropriate team, and then click on the green link next to 2018. They will have salaries there for 2018 and any other years the player is under contract. Please list them all. A player will be listed with whichever organiztion he began 2018 with, so look for Lance Lynn under Minnesota, not NY as an example.
c) Only players who ended the year on the DL or have some issue that will preclude them from starting the season in 2019 should still be on your DL. EX: Didi Gregorius.
d) If you cut any players from your rosters, please make a 4th thread under your team called "Players Cut." Post these players there, thanks!
e) Remove ALL players who have filed for free agency from your roster. Ex: Eduardo Escobar can stay because he signed a new deal before filing, but Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, etc should be dropped. Don't list these players on your drop list, they will be listed by me as free agents eventually. If you put them on your list, it just leads to messy duplication I have to clear up later.
3) No trades can be made until all 10 of us have let me know they have completed their work, and I have checked their rosters. So please hold off on trade talk. We will have planty of time for that.
I want to use the month of November to construct rosters, so we will be a little more lax with the rules. If you are over by a player or two or exceed the cap we are fine for now. There are to be NO ADDITIONS to your roster from the players available at ESPN. Use this time to start evaluating players you want to drop. It is your option if you want to list the players right away or if you want to attempt to trade them first. Please DO NOT list players that are free agents on your drop list. Be careful to check what the decision is on some of those options. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/2018-19-mlb-free-agents.html
I want you to use this month to update salaries. Remember, we are using 2018 salaries for the 2019 season. Delete any info about 2017 salaries. For those that are new, we use the previous year salary so we don’t have to worry about arbitration numbers that aren’t determined until much later in the off season. If salaries are known for other years, please post that information, too. It will be helpful to all owners when considering trades to know contract details.
