Hi Guys,
It has been a while, but I am hopeful that we are soon approaching a start date to fantasy baseball. Some players may opt to play this year due to health issues or personal reasons. so it is best that I set a policy for that happening. No one should have to hold a roster spot for someone who will not play this season. I would like any player who opts out of playing for any reason this season to be placed at the bottom of your roster page here, just like IL players. You will put C-19: before the name of the player that you list here. Check my roster to see how I set it up. (Joe Buck Yourself). There is no limit, and there is one major difference between this and IL players: their salary will not count against your cap for this year. I will create an opt out master list on here, and you can then drop these players from your ESPN roster. Subsequently, when the league business starts, you can add a player to replace them on your roster and adjust your cap accordingly. Once the 2020 season is over, you MUST then cut your roster back to 40 players by the deadline I set for rosters after the season is over. If one of these players becomes a free agent after the 2020 season, then they will become a FA in this league as well. EX: Mookie Betts opts out of playing, his contract expires after 2020, and he files for free agency. He will become a FA here as well. There will be no hold overs due to an opt out year.
Post questions below if you have them.
Brian

So how short will our regular season be? 4 or 5 weeks? normal playoffs?

I already moved playoffs from two week matchups to 1 week. If we have 2 rounds of playoffs with 4 of 10 teams making it, we should probably have about an 8 week regular season and 2 weeks of playoffs.

We have to wait to replace players that have chosen not to play?

I will create a list elsewhere, and yes, you have to wait to replace guys until a few days before the season.

Can you outright drop anyone on a one year deal? And it won't count against your cap?

As long as you did not win them in free agent bidding this past off-season. It doesn't matter how long the deal is, no penalty. If for example, it was Daniel Hudson, who was a FA, then you would have to carry 1/2 his salary against your cap for the 2020 season.

I didn't understand what you meant at first. It is your call. You can cut him or put him on the covid list and hope they exercise his option.
